Role Summary

The main objective of this role is to support the store management team in achieving a store environment that fosters creativity, employee development, and the VIBE philosophy. This role also upholds the Urban Outfitters “Peers Training Peers” philosophy.

What You’ll Be Doing

People

  • Ability to recruit, motivate, develop, and lead a team
  • Manage aspects of performance development within the department team, including:
    • Performance Appraisals
    • Individual Development Plans
    • Coaching and Counselling
    • Disciplinary Actions
  • Recognise and develop talented individuals for advancement and growth within the organisation
  • Uphold company standards and act as a positive role model to others

Leadership & Communication

  • Model the way by inspiring, motivating, and encouraging teamwork
  • Conduct productive daily meetings to ensure goals are met
  • Effectively delegate projects while allowing others the creativity to succeed through decision-making
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

Managing the Environment

  • Oversee all levels of customer service by setting daily goals and expectations
  • Create and maintain a positive store environment
  • Exhibit strong floor presence by training and coaching the store team on:
    • Customer service
    • Store standards
    • Product placement
    • Time management
  • Achieve company-average mystery shop results by upholding customer service standards

Operations

  • Perform all store-level operational procedures accurately and on time
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Achieve stock loss goals by ensuring adherence to loss prevention practices
  • Assist in maintaining company Health & Safety standards to protect employees and customers

Merchandising & Display

  • Manage aspects of the assigned department alongside the Department Manager or Visual Merchandising Manager, including:
    • Training
    • Shipment placement
    • Markdowns
    • Transfers
    • Merchandising
    • Store standards
  • Understand and interpret current fashion trends within local markets
  • Generate creative merchandising solutions
  • Take an active role in ensuring department floor sets are organised and scheduled appropriately

Commercial Awareness

  • Maximise departmental sales through analytical and creative merchandise management from receipt to sale
  • Utilise company reports to respond to trends and drive business performance
  • Stay up to date with customer trends and profiles through media and local influences
  • Manage stock levels effectively using reports and market insights
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills to achieve and exceed store targets

What You’ll Need

  • Experience in a management role within a fast-paced, high-volume fashion retail environment
  • Strong operational skills
  • Understanding of the Urban Outfitters culture and its appeal to the local market
  • Ability to drive sales through:
    • Excellent customer service
    • Strong visual presentation
    • A full understanding of retail business operations
